AfricaHacks Launch GovernanceHacks 2021

On Thursday, the 17th of June, 2021, members of the AfricaHacks community and registrant joined the organization as the latest hackathon was launched. The Hackathon organized in partnership with Dr. Andrew S. Nevin was created to facilitate the development of solutions that promote good governance in the private and public sectors in Nigeria.

The launch was hosted by AfricaHacks’ co-founder Christine Dikongué. Personalities in attendance included AfricaHacks’ Founder Uchi Uchibeke, Mr. Abubakar Suleiman, CEO Sterling Bank, and Dr. Andrew S Nevin, Chief Economist of PWC West Africa.

The hackathon kicked off at exactly 11:30am (WAT). Dr. Nevin delivered the keynote speech while Mr. Abubakar Suleiman took attendees through the importance of governance in every sector and how they can use their ideas to further improve things. 

Top projects will be winning a total of 15 million Naira. Uchi Uchibeke also gave a breakdown of the schedule, answered questions about the Hackathon and announced the $500 Best Use of Chimoney API challenge.

Participants were particularly excited about the hackathon and they kicked off activities almost immediately.
